Safety instructions for North Aura's Rooftop Tent

Please ensure that the roof tent is correctly and securely attached to your vehicle, trailer, or similar. You are responsible for the assembly, attachment and security of the roof tent on your vehicle, even if the installation has been done by a third party. Therefore, check all attachments in advance and at regular intervals for adjustments, wear and damage. Incorrect installation can lead to accidents or serious and fatal injuries. It is therefore necessary to read and understand all instructions and precautions provided on the website or sent with your products before installing and using them. If you do not understand the instructions or are not sufficiently familiar with the installation process, the product should be installed by a professional or qualified person.

Important points to consider when the roof tent is mounted on the vehicle:

Load securing
Rooftop tents, roof racks or roof platforms that are not installed correctly can come loose while driving and cause serious accidents and injuries. Therefore, follow the included installation instructions .

Before driving, check that all fasteners, bolts and supports are properly tightened. For longer trips or when driving in difficult terrain, check the roof tent fasteners and screws at regular intervals.
Also make sure the roof tent is completely and properly closed before driving. For soft roof tents, check that the cover and straps are properly closed. For hard roof tents, check that the closures are properly locked.

Speed and Driving Behavior
The speed of the vehicle must always be adapted to the load and the current road conditions, such as road type, road quality, weather conditions, wind and traffic intensity, as well as current speed limits. Under no circumstances should the speed exceed 110 km/h. Speed affects the vehicle's handling and braking capabilities, and increases air resistance, which can put too much pressure on the roof tent. Be careful when driving over speed bumps; maximum speed should be 10 km/h.

Weights and Limitations
The maximum permissible weight for the vehicle must never be exceeded. Always follow the manufacturer's specifications for maximum and dynamic roof load. The permissible roof load is not stated in the vehicle's registration certificate; it can only be found in the vehicle's owner's manual. It is also important not to overload the vehicle as a whole, as overloading is dangerous and illegal. This applies to both the total permissible weight and the maximum roof load, as the roof load mainly loads the rear axle.

Maximum roof load: The total weight of the load that can be carried on the car's roof (depending on the roof rack/platform).

Dynamic roof load: The weight that can be placed on the car's roof while driving.

Gross vehicle weight: The total weight of the vehicle with cargo on the roof and inside the vehicle.

Calculation of dynamic roof load: Weight of roof rack/roof platform + weight of roof tent + weight of load = available roof load.

Assembly instructions

For your own safety, only use tested, e.g. GS-approved roof racks that are approved for use with the vehicle. To avoid excessive lifting forces, the roof tent should be mounted parallel to the road line. The roof tent must not protrude more than 40 cm from the marker lights, and the total width must not exceed 2.55 m. The roof tent must not protrude beyond the vehicle roof at the front and must not affect visibility in any way.

The height of the vehicle can increase by up to 60 cm depending on the roof rack and roof tent used. Always consider the adjusted height (including roof rack and roof tent) when driving into garages, parking garages, and under low-hanging branches. The vehicle, including the roof tent, must not exceed a height of four meters. If no specific mounting position is specified in the mounting instructions, ensure that there is at least 70 cm between the crossbars. Please note that modifications, such as additional drilling holes on the mounting system or general structural changes to the roof tent are not permitted and that warranty claims are therefore void.

In addition to the instructions for the roof tent, the installation instructions for the roof rack and the vehicle's operating instructions should also be considered.

Car care

When using a car wash, the roof tent and the corresponding roof rack should be removed beforehand.

General remarks

A load on the roof affects the vehicle's behavior. It significantly increases air resistance and leads to increased fuel and energy consumption. Therefore, the roof tent and roof rack should be removed when not in use.
